I'd give the trilogy a solid 3.75 as a whole (accounting for what I see as a lack of some vital descriptions, a few loose ends left loose, and the slumpy middle book). While it does bring new themes to my table, it doesn't change up the formula too much. I thought that the trilogy as a whole is a solid YA. It wasn't until much later on that he started thinking like the strategist he was supposed to be and begin redeeming his character. Although I found one's (Nick) faults to be so overplayed and annoying. The characters are certainly distinct in their machinations. We really lose that (definitely in book two and slightly less in book three). I liked the depth of level of description of book one.

I still feel like there should be two hundred pages (judging based off of book one's length) that we are missing. In fact, the supernatural hijacks the entire series. If you thought that the mind-reading, force walls and scream-attacks would cease after the middle slump, you'd be wrong. The premise follows the set YA (chosen heroes tasked with saving world) trope but it manages to keep things fresh (at least for me) by including the supernatural elements. Rogue finishes off the YA trilogy Frost began which combines bits of James Bond, no, Alex Rider, and the supernatural.
ROGUEBOOK MAX LEVEL SERIES
Did I enjoy reading it? for the most part yes, Would I recommend the series to a friend who loves the genre as much as I do? Probably not as the ending is rather disappointing. I feel that the author either ran out of time or just lost a desire to continue writing the series and decided what's the easiest and fastest way to end this so I can move on. It was a bit disappointing to go through the entire book only for the series to end the way that it did. A battle starts, things transpire, and than you flip the page and it is weeks into the future? We never get any details on how they succeeded at their plan or what else happened, it is just all done. The book moved along at a good pace and included a number of good battles and allowed the main characters to expand their skills however once you get near the end of the book there is a lot of build up regarding how the main issue is going to be solved. From my perspective there was enough to write at least another book as this entire book leads up to the battle between the Makers and the group kids. Each level grants access to new relics, gems and encounters, but also spawns tougher enemies.I really enjoyed the series, for the most part, however I feel that the author got a bit bored with writing it. 20 difficulty levels – Defeat the final boss to unlock the Epilogue level.Level up your heroes to unlock new cards.
